Niantic has announced the Pokémon GO December 2026 Spotlight Hour schedule, featuring a lineup of exciting Pokémon and useful bonuses. Each Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time, a different Pokémon will appear in increased spawns alongside a rotating bonus. Here is the complete December 2026 schedule and our recommendations for making the most of each hour.
December 2026 Spotlight Hour Schedule
| Date | Featured Pokémon | Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| December 2 | Snivy | 2x Catch XP |
| December 9 | Tepig | 2x Catch Stardust |
| December 16 | Oshawott | 2x Catch Candy |
| December 23 | Swirlix | 2x Transfer Candy |
| December 30 | Joltik | 2x Evolution XP |
Best Spotlight Hours to Prioritize
December 9 (Tepig with 2x Catch Stardust) is the most valuable hour for resource farming. Stock up on Star Pieces before this event to maximize Stardust gains. December 16 (Oshawott with 2x Catch Candy) is excellent for players looking to power up Unova starters or save Candy for future Community Day evolutions.
Shiny Hunting Opportunities
All five featured Pokémon have their shiny forms released in Pokémon GO. Snivy’s shiny form (green and yellow) is especially striking. Spotlight Hours boost spawn rates significantly, making them one of the best times to hunt for shinies. With increased spawns for the full hour, you may encounter dozens of each Pokémon.
Preparation Tips
Clear your Pokémon Storage before each Spotlight Hour to maximize catches. Use Incense and Lure Modules to supplement spawns. For Stardust-focused hours (December 9), activate a Star Piece before the event starts. For Candy-focused hours (December 16), use a Mega Pokémon of the same type to earn bonus Candy per catch.
