Urshifu Typing, Weaknesses and Form Differences
Both Urshifu forms are Fighting-type, meaning they are weak to Fairy, Flying and Psychic attacks and resist Bug, Dark and Rock. The two forms behave very differently in battle:
- Single Strike Style — Dark/Fighting typing when Gigantamaxed conceptually, but in GO the raid target is Fighting-type with access to Dark moves. Higher raw attack, slower energy gain.

Psychic-types like Mewtwo are the safest pick because Urshifu’s Fighting moves hit them for neutral damage while they land super-effective hits back. Flying-types such as Rayquaza and Ho-Oh trade vulnerability to Close Combat for huge Brave Bird and Dragon Ascent damage.
How to Catch Urshifu After the Raid
Urshifu’s base catch rate is low, so lead with a Golden Razz Berry and use Curveball Excellent throws. If you have a spare Master Ball from your research tasks, this is a strong candidate to spend it on. Urshifu cannot be evolved — each form must be caught or obtained separately.
Urshifu in PvP: Which Form Should You Build?
For Great League, Rapid Strike Urshifu wins more matchups due to its faster energy generation.
